Petroleum jelly now available in vegan varieties

1/29/2016

CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Just as veganism booms in popularity, a company in Wyoming has developed a way to turn fruit oil of varying types into a vegan substance that resembles and mimics petroleum jelly.

Keys has launched a new category of products called Alternative Naturals this month with six new ointment/jelly based products and two new botanical spray products into the natural alternative market.  These new products are a collaboration between Keys and Applied Alchemy Inc. and are the first products being developed by Applied Alchemy's Back Country Medicine Foundation.

"Using only a secret process, we convert avocado and other types of fruit and vegetable oil into a jelly that has the feel and consistency of petroleum jelly, but without the chemicals, petroleum and impurities," said Bob Root, Keys CTO.

Keys is a subsidiary of Orion Learning International Inc.  The company designs, develops, manufactures and sells a full line of natural skin care, hair care and pet products.
