Prilosec OTC to donate $125,000 to Taste of the NFL's 25th Annual Party with a Purpose

CINCINNATI - Prilosec OTC, comedian Larry the Cable Guy, and a trio of NFL players fought more than heartburn this NFL season – they also fought hunger by committing a donation of 1 million meals to food banks across the country through a partnership with Taste of the NFL. Prilosec OTC recruited three NFL stars – Jared Allen of the Carolina Panthers, Nick Mangold of the New York Jets, and DeMarcus Ware of the Denver Broncos – to help raise awareness of the issue in their communities. All season long, Mangold, Ware, Allen and Larry the Cable Guy, all of whom are frequent heartburn sufferers, rallied NFL fans to join Prilosec OTC in the fight against hunger by donating to their local food banks through Taste of the NFL’s Kick Hunger Challenge.

“I love teaming up with Prilosec OTC because you can’t beat zero heartburn – especially during football season. But, this year was extra special because we rallied top NFL players to help us beat hunger,” said Larry the Cable Guy. “I’m so proud to represent Prilosec OTC at Super Bowl 50 as we present a check to Taste of the NFL and donate 1 million meals to those who need it most this football season.”

On Feb. 6, 2016, Larry the Cable Guy will present a check for $125,000 on behalf of Prilosec OTC at Taste of the NFL’s 25th annual Party with a Purpose. For 25 years, this Super Bowl fundraising event has helped Taste of the NFL raise more than $22 million for food banks in all 32 NFL markets. During the event, guests will enjoy signature dishes served by renowned chefs from each NFL city alongside a current or former NFL player from that city.

“As an NFL player, I’m lucky to have the opportunity to work with an amazing organization like Taste of the NFL, and Party with a Purpose is a great way to celebrate the end of the season by raising money for our neighbors in need,” said Allen. “It’s incredible that Prilosec OTC committed to donating 1 million meals to support the great work that Taste of the NFL is doing.”
