Publix appoints VP government relations
LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix has named a new head of its government affairs efforts. The company on Tuesday named John Provenzano to be its VP government relations. He will be assuming the helm of Publix’s local, state and federal government affairs, as well as its political action committee, effective June 12.
“We’re pleased to welcome John to our Publix family,” Publix president and CEO Todd Jones said. “His focus on establishing long-term, non-partisan relationships within Congress will make him a valuable member of our Publix team.”
Provenzano currently serves as the executive director of the National Association of State Treasurers, which oversees the association’s activities, including membership, conference planning and government affairs, as well as the re-establishment of its nonprofit foundation.
Before his work at NAST, he was Delta Air Lines’ government affairs director. He will be based at Publix’s headquarters in Lakeland, Fla., though he will spend part of his time in Washington, D.C.
