Q&A: Ion Labs’ Desjardine discusses ProCharge launch

Suncoast Health Brands announced the launch of ProCharge — a liquid protein enhancer that can be drunk straight, mixed in beverages or put on food — on Feb. 5. Each of the five flavors of protein contains 40 g of protein and is lactose and gluten free. In order to learn more about the new introduction to the supplement category, Drug Store News spoke with Ion Labs CEO Clay Desjardine and consulting scientist Abelardo “Al” Acebo about the science behind ProCharge and how the company plans to make its way to supplements aisle. 


 


Drug Store News: First and foremost, how does ProCharge work, and what are some of the benefits of a liquid protein enhancer?




Acebo: ProCharge is a Proprietary blend of hydrolyzed collagen and whey protein isolate delivering over 20 g of protein per ounce in a palatable liquid base. The proprietary manufacturing process has resulted in a one-of-a-kind product, which can be taken straight, but it is also designed to be blended into water, or other beverages, as well as into food. DSN: Now that the product has launched, how is the ProCharge team hoping to get it to consumers and grow its customer base?
