QS/1 receives Global Payments EMV certification

1/12/2016

SPARTANBURG, S.C. — Healthcare software solutions company QS/1 announced this week that it had received certification from Global Payments to accept cards with embedded chips that are EMV compliant.

“QS/1 is giving our pharmacy customers the tools they need to protect themselves from credit card fraud,” QS/1 VP Sonny Anderson, QS/1’s vice president of Systems and Technology. “Global Payments has certified QS/1 to process EMV payments through its system.”

The approval means that pharmacies using QS/1 technology and hardware are now able to accept and authenticate EMV cards with chips. On Oct. 1, 2015, liability for fraudulent transactions shifted to merchants who are not EMV-compliant.

“QS/1 offered one of the first integrated point-of-sale solutions with EMV processing capability to the independent and small-chain pharmacy industry,” Anderson said. “Our goal is to help pharmacies succeed by providing the security resources they need, as we continue to pursue EMV certification with additional credit card processors.”
