PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Reckitt Benckiser’s Lysol brand is bringing a new element to the laundry process. The company is introducing  Lysol Laundry Sanitizer. Noting that laundry detergent doesn’t necessarily kill bacteria, the brand said the new liquid additive could remove 99.9% of bacteria when added to the laundry routine.

"We created Lysol Laundry Sanitizer because we wanted to ensure the well-being of families, so that parents feel confident that their laundry is truly clean," Lysol marketing director Rory Tait. “We want them to understand the importance of stepping up their laundry routine to help keep their loved ones safe from harmful germs that traditional laundering methods do not protect against.”

To support the launch of Lysol Laundry Sanitizer, the brand will be partnering with designer Rachel Zoe, who designed a limited-edition blanket with special washing instructions to ensure clothes are free from germs. It also is working with Jessica Seinfeld’s GOOD+ Foundation, donating 50 of the limited-edition blankets and 300 bottles of Lysol Laundry Sanitizer to the organization. And as of the beginning of April, ever bottle of Lysol Laundry Sanitizer purchased will see Lysol donating $1 to GOOD+ Foundation up to $25,000.

"We are thrilled to team up with Lysol and support their effort to help keep children safe," the foundation’s executive director Katherine Snider said. "Through their contribution, we'll be able to provide an essential item — blankets — to those in need, together helping more families feel supported."
