Retailers recall Cottontails Icy Bite Teether Keys
NEW YORK Two major retailers have voluntarily recalled teething products for infants.
Giant Food and Stop & Shop have issued a voluntary recall of Cottontails Icy Bite Teether Keys after the manufacturer notified the retailers that the gel may have been contaminated with Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus circulans.
Customers who have these products should discard them and bring their purchase receipt to the store of purchase for a full refund. To date, Giant Food nor Stop & Shop have received reports of illnesses associated with ingestion of these products.
These bacteria generally do not cause illness. However, the bacteria can affect children with weakened immune systems, causing stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea if the teether is punctured and the liquid from the teether is ingested.
Customers may contact the customer service department of Stop & Shop, Giant Food, or Luv Care, the manufacturer of the product.
