Rising Pharmaceuticals launches generic allergy drug

PORT WASHINGTON, N.Y. — A subsidiary of Aceto Corp. has launched a generic treatment for seasonal and perennial allergies, the company said Tuesday.

Rising Pharmaceuticals announced the launch of flunisolide nasal solution in the 0.025% strength.

The drug is a generic version of Ivax Pharmaceuticals' Nasalide. Various versions of the drug had sales of about $37.3 million in 2012, according to IMS Health, and the drug is the eighth generic launched by Rising in fiscal year 2013. Israel-based Teva Pharmaceutical Industries acquired Ivax in 2006, and production of branded Nasalide has been discontinued.
