Rite Aid customers donate more than $765K to Haiti

CAMP HILL, Pa. Rite Aid customers and associates nationwide donated more than $765,000 to the American Red Cross International Response Fund to help the victims, families and communities affected by the recent earthquake in Haiti, the drug store chain announced Tuesday.

In the campaign ended January 30, customers were able to donate funds by purchasing $1 disaster relief certificates at any Rite Aid store across the country. Rite Aid associates in the corporate and field offices as well as the company's distribution centers also participated in the program.

In addition to the funds raised through the customer and associate fundraising program, The Rite Aid Foundation donated $50,000 to assist with relief efforts. All funds raised will be donated to the American Red Cross International Response Fund, earmarked for Haiti earthquake relief.

“Our hearts and thoughts remain with those impacted by last month's devastating earthquake and we hope this donation helps make life just a little easier,” said Mary Sammons, Rite Aid chairman and CEO.
