Schlicker tapped to head Giant-Landover, Stop & Shop

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands Dutch supermarket operator Royal Ahold announced Thursday that it had appointed Giant-Carlisle president and chief executive officer Carl Schlicker as president and chief executive officer of its Giant-Landover and Stop & Shop chains.

Schlicker succeeds Jose Alvarez, whom Ahold appointed executive vice president for global business development, reporting directly to Ahold chief executive officer John Rishton.

“We have chosen to make these changes as the Value Improvement Program expands beyond price repositioning,” Rishton said.

The program, which began in 2006, involves increasing profits by revamping product and service offerings while reducing costs and prices.
