Sharpie modifies popular writing utensil

8/4/2010

OAK BROOK, Ill. Sharpie is bolder than ever with its newest innovation.

Sharpie's liquid pencil hits stores shelves nationwide this September, just in time for the back-to-school season. Using the newest liquid graphite formulation, the Sharpie liquid pencil writes like a pen but erases like a pencil.

"The Sharpie liquid pencil is a game changer in the back-to-school shopping aisle," said Sally Grimes, VP marketing for Sharpie. "Sharpening standard pencils takes up valuable classroom time, and mechanical pencil leads seem to constantly break. The Sharpie liquid pencil means no more sharpening, and it's erasable for up to three days, after which it becomes more permanent.  It's unlike any other writing instrument out there."

The Sharpie liquid pencil features a line width comparable to a 0.5mm No. 2 pencil. Suggested retail price for a single pack with eraser refills is $1.99. The double pack with eraser refills is $3.99.
