Solo creates line of more eco-friendly plastic cups, bamboo plates

HIGHLAND PARK, Ill. Solo Cup Company has announced the creation of its newest line of “green” single-use cups and plates: Bare by Solo. According to the company, the new line is better for the environment than traditional disposable paper plates and cups, yet is just as durable as other Solo products.

Solo has rolled out its 20 percent recycled plastic cups and also newly-designed bamboo plates. The company has said that it hopes by introducing the cups made from recycled materials and plates made from a readily available, renewable resource, it will make an impact with consumers concerned about sustainability.

The company has also announced a partnership with Keep America Beautiful to help support programs that teach waste reduction and prevention and promote and recycling and neighborhood beautification projects.

Bare by Solo 18-ounce clear plastic cups are available in 24-packs and the 10-inch bamboo plates are available in15-count packs. The new items will soon be available at retailers nationwide. More information can be found at www.barebysolo.com.
