Southeastern Grocers kicks off Veterans Day Wall of Honor donation program

11/2/2016

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Southeastern Grocers, parent company of BI-LO, Fresco y Más, Harveys and Winn-Dixie banners, announced Wednesday that it had begun its community donation program, Veterans Day Wall of Honor, in partnership with the Southeastern Grocers Foundation in all of its stores.

Through the program, between now and Nov. 15, customers who make a donation will be given a dedication card on which they can write a message to their own military hero, building a wall of honor at each store and creating a visual tribute to veterans. The donations will go to Hope For the Warriors, a nonprofit founded in 2006 that is “dedicated to restoring a sense of self, family and hope for post-9/11 veterans, service members and their families,” according to the company.

“This Veterans Day, we continue to show our military and their families the appreciation we have for the sacrifices they have made for the nation,” Southeastern Grocers president and CEO Ian McLeod said. “Together with our associates and customers, we honor those that have served by raising funds and awareness for Hope For The Warriors and share our admiration for our service men and women with thousands of inspirational dedication cards throughout our stores.”

The company said customers can show support on social media by following and sharing Facebook posts and Tweets from its banners with #AllforHonor.

“Hope For The Warriors is extremely grateful to Southeastern Grocers and its customers for their support this Veteran’s Day, honoring the service of our veterans,” Hope For The Warriors president and co-founder Robin Kelleher said. “As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, the continued support of Southeastern Grocers, its partners, vendors and customers has made a momentous impact allowing us to serve thousands in need through our nationwide programs.”
