Supervalu to buy eight Wyoming Albertsons stores

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. Supervalu has entered an agreement to buy the eight Albertsons stores that Albertsons LLC operates in Wyoming. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Supervalu stated that it plans to continue to operate the stores under the Albertsons banner, and all stores include an Osco in-store pharmacy.

Supervalu currently operates two Albertsons stores in Wyoming. After the acquisition, the acquired stores will become part of Supervalu’s Intermountain West division. The Intermountain West division operates 243 stores in Idaho, Oregon, Montana, Utah, Washington, Wyoming and North Dakota.

The deal, which is subject to customary government approval, is expected to be complete in late January 2008.

Supervalu has estimated annual sales of about $44 billion and operates about 2,450 retail locations, including more than 920 in-store pharmacies. Through its nationwide supply chain network, the company provides distribution and related logistics support services to more than 5,000 grocery endpoints across the country.
