Supervalu to cut 100 corporate jobs

MINNEAPOLIS Supervalu said it would lay off 100 information technology employees at its corporate headquarters in Boise, Idaho, and Eden Prairie, Minn. The layoffs follow a June announcement that 80 employees in its finance department in Boise would be laid off during the next 12 to 18 months due to outsourcing of some jobs to India.

“As with any decision affecting employees, this action was taken only after careful consideration,” the company said in a statement. “Given the current economic situation impacting consumer behavior as well as operational expenses, Supervalu is continuously re-examining cost-savings efforts across the company.” 

The company is offering employee assistance and outplacement services to all affected employees.
