Take Care Clinics offering $39 physicals as spring training, summer camp approaches
CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa. –– Take Care Health Systems, which is owned by Walgreens, has announced that it now is offering sports and camp physicals for $39. The physicals, regularly $60, are available until October and administered by nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
“Camp and sports physicals present an important opportunity for families to meet with a trusted healthcare professional who can screen patients for undetected health conditions, identify children that may be at risk for injury or spark conversations about overall health and wellness,” stated Sandy Ryan, chief nurse practitioner officer for Take Care Health Systems. “These exams are also a convenient opportunity to check whether immunizations are up-to-date and administer them if need be. It’s all about helping ensure the overall health of a patient and the community, on the patient’s terms.”
Take Care Clinic nurse practitioners and physician assistants can administer appropriate immunizations for school-aged children, such as flu, Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis), Menactra (meningitis), Varicella (chicken pox), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) and Gardasil (HPV). The company recommends that patients bring a copy of their vaccination record and medical history to the Take Care Clinic in preparation to receive a sports or camp physical or immunization.
While appointments are not required, they can now be scheduled through Take Care Clinic’s website, which also shows estimated wait times at each clinic for walk ins.
Sports and camp physicals at Take Care Clinics do not take the place of a child’s yearly health exam and complete developmental assessment. Take Care Health professionals encourage all patients to have a primary care provider or pediatrician who can facilitate this relationship. Patients without a primary care provider will be referred to one for further evaluation and treatment as needed. Visit records will be shared with a patient’s provider if requested, and all patients will be given a copy of their visit record to share with other providers.
High school and middle school level, pre-participation sports physicals are not available at Take Care Clinics in Kansas.
