Target makes over beauty department
CHICAGO Target is looking for a lift in beauty sales through a new concept it currently is testing in eight Chicago-area stores.
Incorporating some familiar elements from its existing beauty departments, such as backlit gondolas and special presentations for premium products, the new beauty layout unites the retailer's cosmetic, skin care and hair care categories into one easy-to-navigate area. The department also features touchscreen monitors that offer product recommendations and other messaging. According to published reports, the pilot began in March, and future plans will be based on the success of the test stores.
