Wagner honored for pharmacy achievement

2/11/2008

ALEXANDRIA, Va. —Capping a career that earned her numerous awards, National Association of Chain Drug Stores veteran Mary Ann Wagner was tapped for another one in January when NACDS named her a “Community Pharmacy Great Communicator” in recognition of her contributions as a spokes-woman for chain pharmacy.

Wagner, who retired in December after a 13-year career with the organization, was honored at a reception in Arlington, Va., for “an entire career of communicating pharmacy’s role in word and action,” NACDS noted. A veteran of Hook-SupeRx and the Indiana Board of Pharmacy, Wagner was the 2003 recipient of the Harold W. Pratt Award, chain pharmacy’s highest honor. Her most recent post at NACDS was senior vice president of policy and pharmacy and regulatory affairs.

“In addition to Mary Ann’s duties as a department head, she conducted many media interviews with newspapers, radio, local television and national news outlets,” said NACDS president and chief executive officer Steve Anderson. “As a result, Mary Ann was often the de facto face of our industry. [She] handled this role gracefully and has been an outstanding communicator on behalf of chain pharmacy.”
