Walgreens, Ferring Pharmaceuticals offer products, educational materials to women with cancer
PARSIPPANY, N.J. — Walgreens will offer products and other resources for women who have fertility complications due to cancer treatment, under a partnership with Ferring Pharmaceuticals announced Thursday.
The offer is in honor of National Ovarian Cancer Month and Gynecologic Cancer Month, both of which take place in September. The retail pharmacy chain and drug maker are providing free access to certain fertility medications and educational resources as part of Ferring's h.e.a.r.t. BEAT program, a patient-assistance initiative that Ferring founded for women of reproductive age who have received a new cancer diagnosis.
The program will provide educational resources through Walgreens Specialty Pharmacy, such as access to nurses, informational guides, multimedia materials and specialized modules to teach injection training.
