WHAT’S HOT: Night brace helps foot pain

9/24/2007

NEW YORK —While there are plenty of insoles advertising relief of “heel pain,”there are comparatively few that specifically address plantar fasciitis, the root cause of many heel pain complaints. As many as 2 million people suffer through plantar fasciitis each year, most commonly middle-aged women and younger, recreational runners.

Beiersdorf, which promotes the Futuro Night line of braces, is launching an incremental plantar fasciitis solution in September, a dorsal night splint, called the Futuro Night Foot, that’s worn on top of the foot.

The product helps maintain a therapeutic angle of the foot between 85 degrees and 90 degrees while a customer sleeps, and features a pair of comfortable straps and breathable soft foam to help maintain the beneficial position of the brace overnight. The design also allows the user to walk while the night splint is worn, enabling them to make it to the fridge for a midnight snack.
