Winn Dixie stores in New Orleans to feature recovery kiosks

5/20/2009

NEW ORLEANS The city government of New Orleans last week announced that all local Winn Dixie grocery stores will feature City of New Orleans recovery kiosks, providing shoppers with a one-stop experience.

“Winn Dixie continues to demonstrate leadership and commitment to the recovery of New Orleans,” stated Mayor Ray Nagin. “Winn Dixie was the first major grocery store to reopen in New Orleans East following Hurricane Katrina, which was a strong signal of their investment in this recovery. And today, by rolling out City of New Orleans kiosks that feature recovery project maps, as well as express city services, Winn Dixie continues to show that they value their customers and this city.”

The kiosks will enable citizens to access city services online, allowing them to complete tasks such as paying parking tickets or obtaining permits; review the status of city projects by viewing the recovery maps; and register for the City Assisted Evacuated Plan in time for hurricane season.

Similar kiosks are already in use in the lobby of City Hall.

“After Katrina we were the last stores closed and the first stores reopened,” stated Joey Medina, regional VP Winn Dixie. “We remain committed to helping New Orleans recover, not just as the retail grocery store of choice but as a caring neighbor in every community we serve.”
