ZixCorp, UnitedHealthcare implement e-prescribing program in Texas

DALLAS Zix Corp. and UnitedHealthcare are expanding their program to help physicians in Texas adopt e-prescribing technology, the two companies announced Wednesday.

The new program will provide 200 primary-care physicians in Texas with training and technology to enable their offices to provide e-prescribing for their patients. ZixCorp and UnitedHealthcare have implemented similar programs in Ohio and Florida. 

"UnitedHealthcare shares ZixCorp?s commitment to advance high-tech solutions that will help streamline prescription filling and verification and improve patient safety," UnitedHealthcare executive vice president and chief medical officer Sam Ho said in a statement. "We believe technology such as e-prescribing plays a significant role in enhancing the delivery and quality of healthcare and improving healthcare affordability for families and employers."
