Drug Store News is pleased to announce that Ed Rowland, founder and principal of Rowland Global, has been named a contributing editor focusing on global trends and issues and their impact on the U.S. OTC business. Rowland provided DSN a successful series of blogs in 2016 discussing the “Rules of the Road” for U.S. brand owners contemplating entry into some of the most important global markets.

In 2017, he will take on more global issues, such as the overall progress of WBA, the global retail drug chain chessboard, e-commerce and the interaction with U.S. sales efforts, Brexit, the global beauty category and a deeper dive into world’s second largest OTC market — China. Additionally, Rowland will take a look at several other important, first-tier global markets.

Rowland is a frequent speaker at key international OTC Conferences including the March 2015 U.S. Consumer Healthcare Products Association Annual Executive Conference “Export Success, Grow Your Global Business,” the U.K.’s Health & Beauty Association’s May 2016 Meeting “Boots Progress in North America and Implications for U.K. OTC Companies” and the June 2016 Nicholas Hall & Co. LATAM Conference addressing “Mexico, the Upsides of a Devaluation and Growth Opportunities.”

Later this year, he will speak at the 28th Annual Nicholas Hall & Co. European OTC Conference outlining key U.S. OTC market developments followed up by a return to the U.K.’s Health & Beauty Association, giving an update on Boots and Walgreens. Rowland is a member of the CHPA’s Business Development Committee and is one of two North American Nicholas Hall & Co. Network Partners.
