Omron teams up with AHA to promote heart health
BANNOCKBURN, Ill. Blood pressure monitor manufacturer Omron Healthcare is working with the American Heart Association to promote heart health, Omron announced.
Under the partnership, Omron is supporting the AHA’s campaign to educate healthcare providers on treatments for high blood pressure, also known as hypertension, with the goal of reaching 50,000 providers by 2013.
“Omron Healthcare is proud to support the American Heart Association and its educational initiatives,” Omron COO Robert Kondraske said. “Hypertension affects 1-out-of-3 Americans and is known to be a silent killer.”
With November designated as American Diabetes Month, Omron also is promoting its blood pressure monitors for use by diabetics. Two-out-of-3 diabetes patients have hypertension, compared with 1-in-3 people in the general population, according to a 2004 study published in the journal Hypertension.
