ThriveOn launches online, mobile tool to alleviate anxiety

11/6/2014

SAN FRANCISCO - ThriveOn recently launched the online and mobile tool Lantern, which is designed to alleviate anxiety at home, at work and in everyday life.

The online tool — scientifically designed by researchers from Stanford, Penn State and Washington University in St. Louis —evaluates a user's mind health in minutes, tells them where they need to improve, and matches them up with a trained professional to guide them through personalized daily exercises that they can access on their smartphone.

Users answer a series of real-world but scientifically backed questions and Lantern assesses their overall anxiety level and other important dimensions of mind health. Lantern then offers quick daily activities that reduce anxiety such as interactive exercises, reading and mood and behavior tracking — all guided by the user's one on one Lantern coach and delivered through their smartphone. And Lantern enables users to track their progress.

The company recently recieved $4.4 million in backing from investors led by Silicon Valley-based venture firm Mayfield, with seed funding from SoftTechVC. Facebook chief product officer Chris Cox is serving as an advisor.
