Walgreens Flu Index tracks gains in Nevada, Nebraska

1/16/2019
An increase in flu activity is roiling Nevada as Nebraska leads the pack of markets with high flu activity. That’s according to the Walgreens Flu Index for the week ended Jan. 12.

The index, which uses Walgreen’s weekly retail prescription data for flu antivirals across its locations, found that Lincoln and Hastings-Kearney, Neb., was the market with the top flu activity, and Nebraska took the spot among states with flu activity. Behind Nebraska in flu activity were New Mexico, Kentucky, Texas and Nevada. Nevada, in particular, is living up to its state motto — “battle born” — as it leads the states with flu activity growth, according to the index. Las Vegas took the No. 3 spot in markets seeing activity gains, behind Portland-Auburn, Maine at No. 2 and Omaha in the pole position.
