The industry has lost a pioneer in healthcare technology. Kenneth Hill, chairman of EHR Data who founded several pharmacy software and health tech companies, died Nov. 23, the company said Tuesday.

Kenneth Hill Sr.

During his career, Hill founded and led PDX, pc I professional systems, National Health Information Network, and many other paradigm-shifting companies, most recently founding EHR Data. The company said his focus had always been on enabling a better life for patients through better patient care.

“Pause for a moment and think about radical generosity. Uncle, as I called Ken, understood that a natural response to the blessings in his life was to share resources, education, and all forms of charity with others," said Tracy Hill, EHR Data executive vice preisdent of sales and marketing. “He created numerous companies to help people live better lives and have access to greater opportunities.”

She added, "Ken constantly told stories that centered around people, and always paid tribute that our people made it great. When your core-identity is one of a “giver,” it is only natural that he challenged our industry and people to change the way they thought about person-care. Ken would invite us and continuously push us to re-evaluate what matters most — people — and ask us to recommit to the greater good on a global scale."

EHR Data noted that Hill's companies all operated under the same values — ingenuity, teamwork and stewardship — and that hill was passionate about advancing pharmacy's role in health care and driving the industry forward while promoting patient safety via interoperability and empowering patients to own their data.

"At EHR Data, we intend to propel and execute his vision for people, something bigger than ourselves," Tracy Hill said. "Though the path before all of us might appear radical now, it will afford people and their loved ones a better life than those before them and ultimately change how we navigate the world.”
