Mutual Drug, a Durham, N.C.-based member-owned network of more than 550 independent pharmacies in the southeast, has entered into a strategic alliance with PerciptMed to bring its scripClip pick-to-light will-call system to pharmacies.

“We are excited to be working with PerceptiMed to bring this new technology to our members,” said Meredith Lauderdale, Mutual Drug vice president of sales. “One of our important goals is to help our pharmacies provide better clinical services to their patients. PerceptiMed streamlines their workflow so the pharmacist can deliver enhanced services to their patients including immunizations and diabetes education.”

The scripClip system uses proprietary software to support a system of LED-embedded clear plastic hanging prescription bags as well as plastic clips that can be affixed to paper bags and large containers. The system speeds up the process of placing prescriptions in the will-call area without alphabetizing prescriptions.  With scripClip, prescriptions can be quickly retrieved by pharmacy staff by looking for the bag with the flashing, color-coded, LED.

“Mutual Drug, being a cooperatively owned distributor, has extremely close relationships with the pharmacies they serve," said Frank Starn, PerceptiMed CEO. "We feel that by working together we’ll be able to bring the customer service benefits of scripClip to hundreds of more pharmacies than we could on our own.  We look forward to partnering with the Mutual Drug sales and customer service teams to introduce scripClip to their members.”
