Aetna sees success with ZixCorp's PocketScript
HARTFORD, Conn. Aetna recently released a report that the company conducted with the Zix Corp. regarding ZixCorp’s PocketScript service, which allows the doctor to e-prescribe prescriptions to pharmacies.
The PocketScript service, along with 1,000 handheld devices were given to Aetna’s healthcare providers in New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania. The study showed that there was a 5 to 7 percent increase in use of generic and formulary drugs, when the doctor used the service, which provides greater access to drug information, which lowers member’s out-of-pocket expenses.
Based on the pilot’s success, the two companies have expanded the service to 750 doctors in New York and Connecticut.
