Albertsons expands Eating Healthy With Diabetes store tours

3/9/2017

BOISE, Idaho — Albertsons’ Eating Healthy With Diabetes store tours — which make available to patients a guided tour with a registered dietitian to help make better food choices, set goals and read nutrition labels — are getting an expansion, the company announced Thursday.

Through April 30, there will be free, guided tours at 400 of the company’s stores with in-store pharmacies under the Albertsons, Safeway, Vons, Jewel-Osco, Shaw's, ACME, Tom Thumb, Randalls, Pavilions, Star Market and Carrs banners.

“We hope that all of our customers who are interested in taking charge of their health and wellness goals can attend the free tours,” said Mark Panzer, SVP, Pharmacy Health and Wellness. “This is one more way our stores can be a solution center for our patients and customers.”

The tours, which were developed more than 10 years ago when Albertsons pharmacists realized their patients with diabetes needed more resources in addition to their medications, have been updated to include food tastings, meal planning tips and nutrition tools. The company welcomes all patients to participate, regardless of diabetes status. The tours are sponsored by LifeScan, which makes OneTouch products.
