American Consultants Rx to donate prescription discount cards

NEW YORK An Atlanta-based company will donate millions of prescription discount cards to nonprofit organizations, hospitals, schools, churches, small businesses and the general public to provide assistance to people who have difficulty buying their drugs.

American Consultants Rx announced Wednesday that it would donate the cards to help uninsured, underinsured and elderly people deal with the cost of prescription drugs. The company was formed in 2004, and has donated more than 25 million cards to more than 18,000 organizations across the country.

The cards offer discounts of up to 40% on branded drugs and up to 60% on generics, and are accepted at more than 50,000 retail pharmacies across the country, ranging from regional chains to national chains.
