American Heart Association launches first iPhone application

7/10/2009

DALLAS The American Heart Association introduced its new Pocket First Aid & CPR application for the Apple iPhone.

The innovative iPhone feature allows users to review first aid procedures and watch visual demonstrations of how to respond in critical first aid situations at the simple click of a button.

Powered by Jive Media, the application is available for download at Apple's iTunes store for $3.99. Once the download is complete, users will have access to hundreds of pages with illustrations -- topics include CPR, choking, bites, bruises, burns, seizures and diabetic emergencies.

An additional component of the application is a phone-based medical profile feature, where users can store their family's medical information. The application can save doctors' contact information, emergency contacts, allergies, medications and insurance information for quick access in an emergency. The information is only stored on the individual's phone and is deleted if the application is removed from the phone.
