9/9/2008

ISELIN, N.J. AmeriHealth New Jersey will sponsor the New Jersey Health Information Exchange, to give physicians all-day access to shared-patient medical imaging records through a secure Web portal, the company announced Monday.

Physicians in New Jersey can join the exchange free of charge. The purpose of the 12-month pilot program is to give physicians online access to CAT scans, MRIs, X-rays and ultrasounds and other reports.

“This new program will give New Jersey doctors, nurses and other healthcare providers the modern information tools they need to provide their patients with the finest possible care,” said AmeriHealth vice president for health services Paul Portsmore. “The Exchange will increase convenience and, most importantly, enhance patient outcomes.”
