AmerisourceBergen’s Lash Group unveils AI-fueled benefit verification
AmerisourceBergen-owned patient support services company Lash Group has rolled out its latest electronic benefits verification solution. The SmartPoint-powered technology is an artificial intelligence-powered system that the company said would reduce time-to-therapy and improve care delivery.
“Benefit verification can be a significant barrier between patients and their ability to live healthier lives. This is especially true for the millions of patients whose benefits are still verified manually — through phone calls and paperwork exchanged among provider offices, payers and third-party hub support services providers,” said Lash Group president Tommy Bramley. “By applying advanced technologies to the healthcare space and pairing them with expert human intervention when required, we can drive faster speed to therapy and provide a more seamless experience for patients and providers.”
Lash Group’s electronic benefit verification solution uses health coverage and payer data collected from millions of manual verifications as a reference base, then uses machine learning and artificial intelligence to evaluate each incoming benefit verification, it said. The company noted that if the SmartPoint technology can’t predict a benefit verification’s outcome with high accuracy, it’s processed in real time. Otherwise, the company said, it is sent to a reimbursement counselor for intervention. Lash Group said the solution is designed to fit within existing workflows.
