A&P places Fresh next to Pharmacy

9/27/2007

PARK RIDGE, N.J. Grocer A&P unveiled on Thursday its redesigned Fresh concept prototype here, which places its Pharmacy and Health Care Center adjacent to A&P Fresh.

“In reinventing the food shopping experience for our customers, our goal in Park Ridge was to marry the best elements of innovative American and traditional European food-selling approaches,” stated Eric Claus, A&P president and chief executive officer. “So in and around our full range of grocery products, we’ve put together a neighborhood of shops under one roof.”

The 17 shops are configured in a “walking street” style around the market and include:

  • Artisan breads
  • Tea and coffee
  • Organic and natural product and meats
  • Pasta
  • Cheese
  • Chocolates
  • Seafood and sushi
  • Fresh to go
  • Deli, bakery.

Rounding out the one-stop shop is the pharmacy area, located adjacent to A&P Fresh. In addition to prescription medications and clinical counseling, the shop carries health and beauty care products. Among the mix is A&P’s own Health Pride brand.

The supermarket chain currently operates 337 stores in eight states under the following banners: A&P, Waldbaum’s, The Food Emporium, Super Foodmart, Super Fresh, Sav-A-Center and Food Basics.
