AstraZeneca announces availability of Toprol-XL
WILMINGTON, Del. AstraZeneca announced Monday that wholesale ordering restrictions on an extended-release drug for treating hypertension had been removed, making the drug fully available.
The Anglo-Swedish drug maker said it had been “diligently working” to help ensure adequate market supply of Toprol-XL (metoprolol succinate) and an authorized generic version of the drug following reports that two generic drug makers had recalled or suspended shipments of their versions late last year and early this year.
“After the two generic manufacturers stopped supplying the market, it was critical that we quickly boost our production to increase the supply available for patients,” AstraZeneca VP Kathy Monday stated.
