AstraZeneca inks deal with Infosys Technologies for global sourcing services

LONDON Infosys Technologies has received a multi-million dollar global sourcing deal from Anglo-Swedish drug maker AstraZeneca, the company announced Monday.

Under the agreement, Infosys will deliver application maintenance services to AstraZeneca's global operations in such areas as manufacturing, supply chain, finance, human resources and other corporate functions. It's part of the drug maker's program to accelerate innovation and speed up the process of bringing new products to the market.

"We chose Infosys as a strategic partner for its understanding of the rapidly shifting dynamics in the pharmaceutical industry," AstraZeneca CIO Richard Williams said in a statement. "The combination of Infosys' outsourcing expertise, technology leadership and proven record in rationalizing and standardizing business process were all contributing factors to our decision."
