Barr, J&J in talks to settle Ortho Tri-Cyclen dispute

MONTVALE, N.J. According to Reuters, generic drug manufacturer Barr Pharmaceuticals said it was in talks with a unit of Johnson & Johnson to settle a patent dispute involving the oral contraceptive Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo.

A U.S. federal court in New Jersey has postponed a patent infringement trial while settlement talks progress.

Barr said the terms and status of the anticipated settlement with J&J’s Ortho-McNeil-Janssen Pharmaceuticals unit will not be disclosed until a definitive agreement is reached.
