Barr/Duramed settle with Mass. attorney general

POMONA, N.Y. Barr Laboratories and Duramed Pharmaceuticals, which are subsidiaries of Barr Pharmaceuticals, have agreed on a $2 million settlement with the Massachusetts attorney general to resolve Medicaid price reporting litigation.

The state sued 13 generic manufacturers in 2003 for allegedly inflating the prices they reported to national price reporting services. The other companies involved in the suit were Mylan, Ivax, Warrick, Watson, Schein, Teva, Par, Purepac and Roxane. Ethex and Dey have already settled.

The drugs involved in the Barr suit are methotrexate, naltrexone HCl, warfarin sodium, Apri and digoxin.
