Bayer sues Sandoz to block generic Yaz
LEVERKUSEN Bayer had sued Sandoz in an attempt to block the company from launching a generic of its birth control pill Yaz, according to Bloomberg.
Bayer is looking for a federal judge in Denver or Las Vegas to block the approval that Sandoz is seeking from the Food and Drug Administration until two patents on the drug expire in 2014.
Yaz and Yasmin, which have the same lead ingredient, had sales last year of $1.58 billion worldwide, according to Bayer.
