BSDS kicks off contest to celebrate 1 millionth Rx

7/28/2011

BOYERTOWN, Pa. — Bause’s Super Drug Store is anticipating filling it’s 1-millionth new prescription in the coming months and is preparing to celebrate the event in grand manner, the Philadelphia-area independent pharmacy announced Tuesday.

“Everyone here is extremely excited about this monumental landmark for our store and for downtown Boyertown,” BSDS president Jane Mellott said. “Each new prescription we fill is assigned an exclusive prescription number by our computer system. Refills on that same prescription do not change the prescription number."

“This isn't just the recognition of 1 million prescriptions filled because many of our prescriptions have up to 11 refills," Mellott added. "It's the one-millionth new prescription number that's been assigned — a major milestone. We are celebrating this event with a fun contest that embraces our customers and supports other locally owned businesses.”

According to Mellott, BSDS will be giving away a $1,000 gift certificate of choice to the customer who turns in the one-millionth new prescription, which includes transfer of any existing prescription from another pharmacy, including veterinary prescriptions. The recipient of the one-millionth new prescription — as assigned by the BSDS computer — will receive his or her choice of one of the following $1,000 gift certificates: Bause’s Super Drug Store, Pennsylvania Lottery ($1 lottery tickets), E.G. Landis Jewelers, The Grill Shop (hot dogs), Zimmer’s Pets, CD’s Place (catering event) or Frecon Farms (fresh apples).

If the winner is younger than 18 years old or “resembles a dog, cat, rabbit, bird or other such-like furry or feathered friend,” they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian to claim their prize. “We couldn’t possibly be more excited,” Mellott said. “We are so grateful to those who support the locally owned businesses, and we are ecstatic to give back.”
