CCA to offer members SMARTcare counseling tool
BASKING RIDGE, N.J. The Convenient Care Association and SMARTcare have teamed up to provide CCA member clinicians with a counseling tool to educate patients about how to manage illnesses and conditions, SMARTcare announced.
The SMARTcare counseling tool provides convenient care operators and clinicians with a database of education on managing common illnesses and conditions, and a reference guide to over-the-counter medications to treat symptoms.
"This tool can enhance the already high-quality health care provided by convenient care clinics across the country," stated Tine Hansen-Turton, CCA executive director. "SMARTcare can help clinicians teach their patients how to take better care of themselves and their families after they leave the clinic."
Clinicians can access SMARTcare at the point of care to get actionable patient education materials and detailed information on OTC medicines, according to the CCA. Clinicians also can print take-home sheets with after-care information and preventive steps that patients can follow at home.
The SMARTcare tool now is available to CCA members on the organization's new CCA Clinician Community portal, an online community and education platform for nurse practitioners, physician assistants and other healthcare providers working in the convenient care setting and beyond.
The Foundation for HealthSMART Consumers, a not-for-profit organization, provides the SMARTcare educational content. The foundation leads a social program to engage healthcare consumers through information and education.
