Centice to unveil PASS Rx verification device at NACDS show
MORRISVILLE, N.C. Drug verification company Centice will unveil its PASS Rx product at the National Association of Chain Drug Stores show in San Diego, the company announced Wednesday.
PASS Rx is the first pharmaceutical authentication sensor system to verify a majority of pill-form oral medications dispensed in retail pharmacies. It employs patented sensor technologies to generate a unique spectral fingerprint and image data of the size, color and shape of the drug. The information is compared to Centice’s proprietary database for objective and reliable verification, thus improving accuracy.
A 2003 study by Auburn University showed that about 52 million medication errors occur in the United States each year during the filling of 3.5 billion prescriptions.
The show starts Saturday, Aug. 23, and runs for four days. Product demonstrations will be at booth No. 2318.
