CVS/pharmacy preserves, donates five homes in Montana to housing program
WOONSOCKET, R.I. CVS/pharmacy, in partnership with NeighborWorks, is preserving five homes in Great Falls, Mont., for residential use as it begins construction on a new pharmacy location in the area.
“This is the first time to my knowledge that CVS has donated houses to a non-profit for residential use. We were pleased to be able to make this contribution to the Great Falls community in these challenging economic times,” said CVS Caremark spokesman Mike DeAngelis.
After being contacted by NeighborWorks, a national nonprofit organization created by Congress to provide financial support, technical assistance, and training for community-based revitalization efforts, the pharmacy retailer worked with the group to arrange the removal and relocation of the five houses around its construction schedule.
The five houses are expected to be off site in the next 30 days and donated to NeighborWorks. The homes will be moved to a new subdivision on the city’s south side. Construction on the new CVS store is expected to begin in the first quarter and is slated to open in 2010.
