DSNTV: Innovation’s Doyle Jensen on how automation enables patient-facing care

6/5/2017
At the National Association of Chain Drug Stores Annual Meeting in Scottsdale, Ariz., Drug Store News caught up with Innovation’s EVP global business development, Doyle Jensen, to discuss the opportunity that lies in pharmacy automation, particularly central-fill technology.

In the interview, Jensen discusses the factors for pharmacies to consider when thinking about central fill, the company’s ongoing partnership with the Binghamton University Watson Institute for Systems Excellence and how Innovation is working to help bring pharmacists out from behind the counter by removing pill counting as part of the job.

“They need to get back to what they’re supposed to be doing, and that’s providing patient-facing impact,” Jensen told Drug Store News. “Central fill really is the No. 1 technology that can deliver that, and it has the ability to drive over 50% of the production of scripts to a centralized, highly automated factory.”
