Duane Reade opens second diabetes center in Brooklyn

11/27/2007

NEW YORK Duane Reade announced on Tuesday the opening of its second Diabetes Resource Center in Brooklyn, which has the second highest number of diabetes claims to Duane Reade pharmacies after Manhattan.

Similar to the retailer’s flagship center in Manhattan, the new Brooklyn center is a free training and educational facility designed to assist people in managing diabetes.

The new center, located at 436 86th Street in Bay Ridge, is open to the public. Participants do not need to be Duane Reade customers to make use of the offerings, which includes classes to educate New Yorkers and their families about diabetes. Classes are scheduled and are administered in five two-hour sessions for the duration of a five-week period.

The flagship Diabetes Resource Center in Manhattan was established in February as the company recognized the need to provide services to the roughly 700,000 New Yorkers impacted by diabetes.
