EQuIPP connected to majority of Medicare beneficiaries

10/26/2015

DURHAM, N.C. — EQuIPP is now connected to health plans and prescription drug plans serving the majority of Medicare beneficiaries, Pharmacy Quality Solutions reported Monday.

“We are excited to reach this important milestone in the growth of EQuIPP,” statred David Nau, president of PQS. “In less than three years, we have secured contracts with many of the largest health plans and pharmacy benefit managers in the country as well as the vast majority of community pharmacies," he said "This allows us to serve as the foundation for quality-based contracts between the health plans, PBMs and community pharmacies. Our unbiased measurement of quality along with the performance feedback we provide to pharmacies enables us to have a significant impact on the improvement of quality in the use of medications.”

With the recent addition of several new plans, EQuIPP will encompass prescription claims data for more than 55% of Medicare beneficiaries nationwide including 19 states where EQuIPP will track quality measures for over 80% of Medicare Advantage lives with drug coverage. When added to the Medicaid and Commercial lives tracked in EQuIPP, the dataset contains prescription claims data for nearly 25 million lives.

EQuIPP is a national platform from PQS for medication-related quality measurement and benchmarking. EQuIPP aggregates data from multiple health plans and pharmacies to measure the quality of medication use and makes this measurement available to all participants to foster collaboration between health plans, prescription benefit managers and community pharmacies. By serving as a neutral intermediary for quality measurement and benchmarking, EQuIPP enables pharmacies and health plans to focus on improving the quality and safety of medication use. Nearly 90% of community pharmacies in the U.S. are subscribers to EQuIPP.
