ETHEX recalls prescription prenatal and iron supplements

2/4/2009

ST. LOUIS ETHEX Corp. will recall a wide range of prescription prenatal and iron supplements from wholesale due to possible manufacturing deficiencies, the KV Pharmaceutical Co. subsidiary announced Tuesday.

ETHEX said the recall was a precautionary measure because the manufacturing of the supplements may not have met the Food and Drug Administration's current Good Manufacturing Practice guidelines. Nevertheless, it said patients using the products should continue taking them in accordance with their prescriptions and contact healthcare providers if they have experienced any problems.

Affected products include several tablets in the NatalCare, Cal-Nate, CareNatal, ComBiRx, NataCaps, NataTab, NutriNate, NutriSpire and Prenatal brands, as well as several of the Anemagen, Conison and Fe-Tinic supplements.
