FDA approves generic version of Sonata

ROCKVILLE, Md. The Food and Drug Administration has approved West Ward's generic version of King Pharmaceuticals’ Sonata, FDA records show.

The drug, which West Ward will market under the generic name zaleplon, is a treatment for insomnia. It will be available in 5 mg capsules.

Several other companies also make generic versions of the drug, including Teva, Aurobindo and Sandoz.
