FDA approves Sun's sale of benzonatate
MUMBAI, India The Food and Drug Administration has recently approved the selling of benzonatate capsules, manufactured by India-based Sun Pharmaceutical Industries.
According to published reports, the benzonatate capsules, which are used to treat cough, common cold and pneumonia, as well as other lung infections, are the generic version of Forest Labs’ Tessalon.
The drug will be sold in 100 mg and 200 mg doses. Sun will start selling the drug very soon, adding sales to its already $40 million per year revenue in the U.S.
